While i am connecting my hard drive with any laptop, it is not showing in PC but the light is blinking on hard drive which states that it is in working condition. Also i checked in drivers and printers section that my hard drive is showing there but why it is not appeared in PC that i could be able to use it.

Hey there, Faizan_Sharif.

I'd recommend that you check if the drive shows up in Disk Management and if it does, try assigning it a new drive letter, to see if it appears in Windows Explorer afterwards. Here's how to do that: How to change the drive letter assignment in Windows. Other than that, you could try uninstalling it from Device Manager and reconnecting it, so that Windows can install its drivers again, to see if that fixes the issue. Or try reinstalling/updating the USB drivers.
Other than that it would be a good idea to backup the data, just to be on the safe side and test it with an HDD diagnostics tool, just to make sure that the drive is OK.

Hope that helps.

Dear Boogieman,

The solution you provided is not working as it is not showing in Disk management but as unallocated drive. Kindly looking forward for further support.

Thanks in advance.

Hmm, try out some of the HDD diagnostic tools from this article: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/tp/tophddiag.htm. There are both brand specific and 3rd party programs. Run some tests on the drive and please post the results here, so that I can see what's the situation with the HDD.

Dear Boogieman,

Thanks for your continuous support, and I tried the softwares as per your recommendation. Below is the result from one of Test Tool, also I took the snap shot for your reference but unable to paste here so just I am copying the text results below. Please have a look and guide me the further actions to be taken.

Best Regards

Hey again.

I'd recommend that you remove the serial number from your post for security reasons. Unfortunately this is not the info I needed. It's more like the one on the picture about the program you've used, which you can see in the article. Try using another diagnostics tool or upload the image wherever you want and just send me a link to check it out.

Thanks,
Boogieman_WD

Dear Boogieman_WD,

Sorry for late reply in regard which I was seeking help in. I followed your suggestion about removing the serial number from post and I copied the images for the information as you requested to check. Please see below the links to check out.

Waiting for your kind reply and solution.

No worries mate, I'm still here. 😉

Unfortunately this is not something that gives the complete info on the drive's health. I'd recommend that you take a look at the "Smart Info" and the "Disk Self Test" tabs, to see if there are any irregularities there and if you can run an additional test as I'm not really familiar with that particular program. Does the drive still work properly with every other laptop except for that particular PC? If this is the case you still have the option of updating/reinstalling the USB driver of the PC.

Looks like the drive is not initialized. Did you get this error when you tried to initialize it? If not, in order for you to be able to use it and be detected by any device or computer, you'd have to initialize it first, then partition and format it. Here's how to do that: How to initialize or write a signature to a secondary hard drive or Solid State drive in Windows and here's a guide on how to partition and format a hard drive: How to partition and format a hard drive on Windows and Mac OSX.

Hope that helps.
