My transcend store jet 25 m3 external hard drive which is usb 3.0 is not working properly. When looking to copy operation i can't copy anything not even a single byte of file from other drives to my drive. But I can copy my hard disk's data to other disks. The problem is the other hard drives can't send me any files. It was working very good some before. But today this hard drive is worst than ever. In order to recover this error I've also tried many things like partitioning the hard disk and checking it using chkdsk command. But even after such tests my hard drive remains at its same condition. I need help. please help me in clearing this . Thanks:). And also reply as fast as possible.

Welcome to the community, @Vinay_18!

I'd advise you to share a screenshot (e.g. via Imgur) of the error that you are given whenever you attempt to transfer data. I'd also suggest you try using the external drive on a different computer and see if you will be able to copy/paste files without any issues. You might be dealing with a permissions/ownership problem, so make sure you check this tutorial about taking ownership in Windows.

It might also be a good idea to swap the USB cable and the USB port where you have the external currently connected. Running check disk is not a good idea, until you have determined the health and SMART status of the HDD by checking it with a specific diagnostic utility.

Make sure...

Make sure you copy as much of the data as you can from this external onto another storage device to avoid the potential data loss.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted with the details.
