Question My external hd shows as mb instead of gb

Hi hope someone can help. So ive got a 500gb external hd, which ive been using between a windows laptop+a mac. Ive used it mainly to get raspberrypi 4 images, however now im in a pickle! So when i have it plugged in my mac its showing as 132 mb, when its a 500gb drive! Ive tried allsports, formatting it in ms dos fat+fat32 previously on windows laptop. Can anyone help?

how old is this external hdd?
brand and model?
does it show with more than 1 partition?

I dont have that installed on my mac, but i can install it then show you whatever you may want to see? Sorry thats not much help right now!
