Solution
Hi again, dude31!

Well, I also suggested to try running a diagnostic test on the external drive. The slow transfer rate could indicate some sort of damage on the HDD. Looking at the S.M.A.R.T. data status from the diagnostic tests will help a lot in determining what is going on with it. I'd strongly recommend you to backup all the data from it somewhere else before proceeding with the troubleshooting. Since changing the USB cable didn't work on the TV, how is the drive performing when plugged to a computer?

Keep me posted!

Have you noticed when you plug it into the TV, the HD's activity light immediately goes crazy and stays on? This signals the TV firmware is doing a HD indexing and you should let it finish doing that before using it.

Also I suggest you power that HD independently and not let the TV USB port power it.

If that's not the case then I suggest updating the TV's firmware.

If that ain't it either, then you want to talk to the TV vendor.

hi jsmithepa thank you for replying to my post ,
i tried what you did say but nothing happen , my hdd used to be fine when it's plug to a tv and i dont know why this probleme appeared now?

Hey there, dude31!

I'd recommend you to try using a different USB cable with your external, maybe the one you are currently using is faulty and it's unable to supply the HDD with enough power to function properly. I'd also recommend running an HDD diagnostic utility on the drive and keep your peace of mind that there's nothing wrong with its health and SMART data. You should be able to find such a diagnostic utility on your external drive manufacturer's website. If not, here's a thread with some third-party suggestions: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Before proceeding with the troubleshooting, I'd suggest you to back up any important data from the hard drive.

Keep us posted! :)
