Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming case: Seems like it will keep the system cool and looks awesome. Can also add two optional fans later on. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-065-AN

PSU: Corsair HX520w: Has good reviews and should cope well. Its multi-rail but I'm not sure what that means... I hope its a good thing. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-005-CS

Intel Core 2 DUO E6400 2.13GHz (1066FSB): That should be compatible with memory and Mobo. I wanted E6600 but a bit too expensive and the new E6420s aren't coming out for a few months yet... http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-127-IN

CPU Cooler: Arctic cooling 7 Pro.

Asus P5B (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard: I wanted an Asus P5W DH but can't afford it. But this mobo should be compatible with the Ram right? And also with the CPU ofc. But I'll never have Sli or Crossfire with the 965P chipset (I think) but apart from that, will it be as future-proof and upgradable as a 975x mobo? I hope I'm not shooting myself in the foot for not buying the latest chipset :? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-151-AS

Memory: Got 1GB stick of Corsair XMS2 6400 Pro memory: Will add another stick in a few months. I think thats the best I can get for this mobo. Plus I got a good deal for it :D http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/products/specs/CM2X1024-6400PRO.pdf

2* Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 80GB SATA-II 8MB Cache. Will configure it at Raid 0. Small size but I never store anything but work and a few games on at any one time. Will I have better performance with larger drives? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-051-SE

Graphics Card: Asus GeForce 7600 GT 256MB. Decent price and should work well until I upgrade later on in the year. http://www.gsquared.co.uk/acatalog/info_GRP_ASUS7600GT256P.html. I picked it using this as a guide: http://tomshardware.co.uk/2006/12/12/the_best_gaming_graphics_cards_for_the_money-uk/page2.html#best_pci_express_card_for_pound170__8364235

Is everything compatible with each other? Are there alternative cheaper parts that will work just as well or even better? Will it be a good build for gaming and overclocking? Will it be easy to upgrade in the future? Will it last a decent while before I need to upgrade?

I've done a lot of research but I'm pretty much a newbie and just wanna kno if this build is okay before I begin spending my hard earned.

Cheers for any input :)

Seems fine. I wouldnt sweat the P5wDH deluxe though. Ive got one and there have been some teething problems. Asus has been working dilligently to update the BIOS, but the P5B is probably the sounder choice.

Hello javno, in my opine a X1950Pro would make a much better graph card if you can afford
it that is.

Looks fine, but a 1900gt or 1950pro would give you much better performance then a 7600gt. The P5B is a great mobo, but i would get a P5B-E or P5B Deluxe if your going to oc.

Thats what I initially wanted but it costs about £70 more :( (edit: realised the Pro is only about £20 more. I was thinking of the XT version). But I plan to upgrade later on in the year when I get Vista and Directx 10.

But I could go for a 1900gt. It seems to only cost £15-20 more and does seem like a pretty decent card for the price.

I may go for PVB-E if it gives better oc. Its not that much more expensive either.

Depends how much money I have in the next two weeks really

But all in all if everything is compatible then I'm happy. (I really did think I'd have gotten more criticism 8O ).

(Just to check though, the memory is good for this board right?)

I honestly would not worry about future proofing. I have built a lot of PCs over the last 10 years and have yet to upgrade a CPU without needing to get a new MB. Maybe I just wait too long. I would go for the best board you can afford now. If you know that you will have specific plans to upgrade in the future, then by all means take that into account. I have just found that by the time I'm looking for more, I really want to see a big change, not just an incremental one.

I second the P5B-E option.
