My first build, is this compatible and any suggested changes?

Hi, so I'm looking into building my 1st ever PC. I've spent weeks looking over components and have finally decided on what I want to buy, but I'm unsure if it's all compatible or not. I would also be open to any suggested changes to this list of components (without spending too much more):

I would mainly be using this PC to game (high end), watch media and heavy daily use.

I will also most likely add water cooling down the line, but for now I'm just concentrating on building a functioning PC.

SSD will also be added later, forgot to add that on.

Thanks - Simon

For that price you really should have a SSD.

My recommendation.

The 1070 ti performs very close to 1080 performance but for much cheaper. This is good for a air cooler for that 8700K.

Nice case; it supports an air cooler up to 180mm.
You will need a cooler for the I7-8700K.
I suggest a noctua NH-D15s or NH-U14s which will allow maximum overclocks.
An air cooler will be quieter, more reliable, easier to install, and will cool as well in your case as any AIO cooler.
And... it will not leak.

I will never again build without a ssd for the "C" drive. It makes everything you do much quicker.
120gb is minimum, it will hold the os and a handful of games.
But, many things default to the "C" drive.
When a SSD nears full, it will lose performance and endurance.
240gb is the recommended minimum.

If you can go 240gb, or 500gb you may never need a hard drive.

You can defer on the hard drive unless you need to store large files such as video's.
It is easy to add a hard drive later.

Samsung EVO is a good choice for performance and reliability.
You might want to pick a 960 evo m.2 pcie device for superior sequential capability.

Would the Dark Rock Pro 3 CPU cooler be OK with this RAM? I've seen quite a few people say that with this cooler you should buy low profile RAM as it won't fit otherwise.

LPX is low profile ram which should not impact any air cooler.

Dark rock pro3 should be fine.

One potential issue with large coolers like the dr3 is interference with graphics cards mounted in the first pcie x16 slot.
That is an issue that the redesign of the s variant noctua coolers fix with a slight offset.
I particularly like noctua because they are so easy to mount.
Here is more info on fit from noctua:

The red/black theme was a happy accident, although taking that into consideration I'd prob carry it on and pick the DR3 over the Noctua, it doesn't seem like there is a HUGE difference between the 2.

Thanks for all the comments guys!
