Hello,

Console-price is $500 or less (a $250+ discount over my current rig proposal): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PB8kK8

This is my first build, I want to do it right :bounce:

Also, I want the PSU to be modular (semi- or full) for cable management in the mini-ITX space.

I want to overclock if it offers better performance for the money and I want room for higher-end CPUs later.

The form factor must be mini-ITX (Steam / LAN box).

I have decided on RAM (it's low-latency, blue, and just the right amount on 2 sticks, 8GB) and the MOBO (if I keep the current CPU, which I am also mostly decided on).

I also want at least 1TB of hard drive space and room for an SSD down the road for my OS, Chrome, and other often-opened applications.

This PC will be used for gaming (primary) and student work (occasional).

I am building this mini ITX PC to beat a friend in an argument who thinks console gaming has better performance for the money.

I think I' m going to wait for Skylake and see what to build then. May use these parts (they could be cheaper then) or use next-gen parts.

OK, thanks, I just read that, for gaming, differences will be negligible.
I did realize I can reuse my Win7 key, though, to save $100 for my pocket or other parts...
