MY FIRST GAMING BUILD FOR WoW(expert opinions please)

Aug 15, 2017
So I need a new computer and I figured I could build one to the specs I want for much cheaper than simply getting a pre built. I have an Xbox One S so I won't be using the computer for anything but MMO's, mostly WoW(raids and RBG's), Diablo3, and a little Runescape - for childhood memories sake. So I won't need anything built to the knees. I have some stuff picked out, just want some experienced opinions on the build such as parts I could downsize or upsize that could save me time and money in the long haul. Also what I really am looking for is some quality advice for cooling, such as, is water cooling necessary for my specific build, or would I be fine with the stock case fans. If not, recommend me a decent enough case or better fans, cooling system, etc.

Here is my build:

NZXT Phantom 410 Series CA-PH410-R1 Red Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case ($74.99 after $20.00 rebate @

SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze EVO Edition 520W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS 12V v2.91 SLI 80 PLUS BRONZE ($34.90 after $20.00 rebate @

GIGABYTE LGA1151 Intel B150 Micro ATX DDR4 Motherboard, GA-B150M-DS3H ($86.99 @

Intel Core i5-6500 Skylake Processor 3.2GHz 8.0GT/s 6MB LGA 1151 CPU, Retail ($194.99 @

G.SKILL Aegis 8GB (2 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Intel Z170 Platform / Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-2133C15D-8GIS ($68.99 @

Crucial MX300 2.5" 275GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT275MX300SSD1 ($99.99 @

WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX ($49.99 @

MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GT OC Graphics Card ($329.99 @

Total: $940.83

Mainly just want to know if I'm missing anything to make it run like it should or if I can downsize anywhere and stay mid-high graphics for raids and battlegrounds in Legion. Again this is my first build and post on Tom's hardware, so I just want to get it right before I end up wasting money. Want to stay under $1k.

Thanks in advance!

That system should have no problem with any MMO, but I would consider a Ryzen 1600 build, for a bit more threaded support, to handle background apps, and newer titles with better threaded support. Stock cooler is fine for this setup, and honestly the build you came up with as well. I chose 16gb ram also, though you can get the 8gb version of the same ram, for about $40 less.

Thank you very much, you are helpful and exactly what I was asking for. I'll make this build if that's what you suggest! Only a few dollars more than my original. Thanks again! I'll contact if I have more questions.
