My first go at building my own pc

Well after my mobo on my dell i531 died this weekend i deiced to have a go with a diy home build. I will be re using the dvd drive, the power supply(i replaced the oem one with a 750 watt black widdow i think from best buy), and the 2 2tb spinning drives. I will be using a New OCZ 180gb agility 2 for the boot drive and programs i need. What i will be mostly using this pc for is Photo shop and light video editing(just shorting them and splicing) and Flight Sim X. Here is this list i bought from newegg, i know i ordered the slower memory just ordered the 1333 version and will have to rma the other. So tell me what you guys think of this settup for my use. As you can see i wanted to keep the price under 750 which i did.

I'd suggest using the sticky for builds as it lists your budget, what you using it for and preferred places to buy components otherwise you won't get many posts. You should also include links to the parts you've selected as it makes it easier for people to see exactly what you've got. The build is okay but your videoacrd is pretty old and there are better choices out there.

Could you recommend a good video card at lets say bestbuy were i could just stop in a pick one up.

why are you getting 16gb of RAM? you could get half that and not use all of it, saving you some cash towards a better videocard.

you could also change the processor to a Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition, they overclock well and are great for gaming.

Just change the i3 2100 to an i5 2400 and that'll bring you to $620 just get windows and you're good to go. You'll get better CPU power and better GPU power. You don't even need anything close to 16GB of ram, the most needed is 8GB and that's already alot.

I do manly alot of photoshop which is a memory pig so yes i need 16gb, would of gone to 32gb but thats crazy expensive. But my build failed today, the mobo is shot blue screens every time saying somthing about a hardware fault, this happened right after the auto updater for msi updated the bios. so i am going to send it back to newegg i am getting a gigsbyte ga-990xa-ud3 r mobo plus its a am3+ so when bulldozer comes out.

I sent back that original video card and picked up a pny gtx 550ti from best buy for only $50 bucks, had some reward zone points as well it was on sale.

when the system was running it was very snappy and did what i need very well. It could convert a 20mb raw image to a 20mp jpeg faster then i could snap my finger which compared to my old e7400 rig which took a close to 30sec with 8gb of memory.

You don't need 16GB of ram. I do photoshop as well and I only need 4GB, I stitch huge pano's and produce them with PTGui and it only requires 4GB. 16GB is uneeded.

I do need 16gb with photo shop i have only 250 mb of free memory. When your working with a 50 layer 7500x9000 layout you need alot of memory. As far as video card i have a gtx 550ti in it, which is more then i need as the only game i play is mfsx.

^ Still doesn't need 16GB. Course, it does depend on how much you edit. I run with 18 MP RAWs at 5184x3456 and edit with a bunch of layers and some times even do Panoramas that are crazy high resolution and LOLOLOLOL I'm doing that all on 4GB of DDR3 1333 ram.

^ Yes CL9. I don't really take that long to load into games. But I dunno, maybe I have an above average system.

When i am working in photoshop i have around 128mb of ram free when i am finishing the layout. I know most on here build gaming rigs and in thouse 4gb is perfect but i was in need for 16gb.
