Hey guys, im new here and new to the overclocking stuff, so i want your opinions on my first try,

GTX 970 4GD5T OC
I used precision x,
Power target is set to 110%(max), GPU temp target is 80°C( but i haven't seen more than 71°C ), GPU core clock set to +190Mhz and memory clock set to +400Mhz, soooo what u guys think?

Solution
The numbers look ok but the real test would be some heavy gaming.
What I found with my GTX 970 is that Benchmarking software won`t crash under even heavy OC but give it couple hours gaming and it evently will crash driver. I would say use Heaven or Valley for your initial testing but confirm stability with some gaming (normal use).
I took my GTX to +20mV,110% Power Limit, +230 on the core and +250 on VRAM. During benchmarks (Heaven and Firestrike) all seemed nice and stable but after couple hours of FC4 it would crash.
At the moment running +0mV, 110 power limit, +150 core and +170 VRAM
That`s my 24/7 stable setup , enough to run all recent titles in 1080p on Ultra 60fps

I use Afterburner so memory clock *2 in reality

If you lucky...

If you lucky enough to run stable at your setting bless you man ;)

Hello guys, I have 970 strix asus also;
I got mine OC to 110% power limit, +150 core and +225 VRAM (+450 on msi afterburner)
And 57% Fan when gaming. I never tried modifying voltage, i'm kind of cautious for this parameter.

I have just a little issue on GTA V, when power us is above 85% to 104% i have no issue in the game it run 75 to 90fps ultra with FXAA but sometimes power of the GPU drop to 65/70% so my framerate drop below 60 like 45/50 fps and its kind of annoying.
Temperature of the card never reach above 72° (and its reach this when it stay for 10/15 minut on 103/104% power use)

Do you know where this could come from?
Do you have some ideas to help prevent this?
It happens sometimes during cinematic scenes, or not, or at the begining when i run the game. I've tried activate FPS limit or desactive in options but it doesnt seem to have impact. i use VSync, I've tried Adaptative sync but it was horrible ( 60 fps limit but drop to 40 sometimes)

I have a 24" 144hz monitor so i really enjoy 60 + fps.

Is it possible to force a minimum power use of the GPU on MSI AB like 90/95% for exalmple or on another OC software?

Thanks in advance

I had a similar thing, I had bad stutter in the menus and in cutscenes, I turned vsync on in game. Have you checked your VRAM usage? Is it above 3.5GB?

Use MSI Afterburner, overclock in intervals of 10 then test the performance in something like Heaven or Valley Bencmark, repeat this until you see black textures, screen tearing. At this point you can either downclock back to the previous setting you had or increase your voltage which I do not recommend.

Nope VRAM is Under 2.5GB, 2.8GB when i put distance quelity to max.

But i found how to resolve my issue, i had to change a parameter in Nvidia gpu manager, i change "adaptative" power mangement to "prefer performance" for GTAV.exe and now my card doesnt use less than 80% of power when i play and then never go below 55/60 fps in greedy environment but up to 100 fps in plane and close to the sea!
