Put my computer together last night.

Antec 900
Asus P5Q Pro
E8400
4870 1GB
8 GB OCZ DDR2 1000
Win Vista Ult 64

Started up easily and Windows install was a breeze. Shut it down and started playing.

OK, pic didnt work.
Put the FSB at 475 and have the system listed at 4275.2 Mhz.
Core Voltage is 1.352V.
Idles around 40C.

Voltage is within range, but seemed a bit high. Didnt capture screen of when I was loading the system. Used Prime 95 for an hour. Highest temp I saw was 57C.

I would appreciate any thoughts, concerns...etc.

Thanks for the response. I wanted to test for longer, but needed sleep and was afraid to leave it run overnight in case it ended up with cooling issues.

I did look through the guide...its how I made it as far as I did. I do have more reading to do though.

How would I find out what stock CPU voltage would be to base that 10% from?

Thanks,

Anthony

To make sure I understand, you are saying to put the system back to stock settings...then boot to Windows. Run CPU-Z and see what the voltage is. Use that as baseline.

Thanks,

Coretemp has my VID at 1.2500 v

10% of that is .125, so according to this the safety area would be 1.375?

Intel lists the VID voltage range for my E8400 at 0.85V – 1.3625V.

Ok, maybe I get the photo to work.

After 2.5 hours of stress testing, it BSOD. Backed it down to 467 FSB and it has now been stable for 10 hours and counting.

Assuming I make it a full 24 hours issue free, is there anything else I should do? Can I run any tests that will show that memory is working to capacity, or that any individual component is working at less than what it should?

Thanks,

Anthony
