I am building my first PC and I have a metric buttload of questions..

Please recommend alternatives, money saving techniques, and tips/tricks.
The components I will purchase...

Case: Raidmax Smilodon?
PSU: Corsair CX750
Mobo: ASUS M5A99FX R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-8350
CPU Fan: Cooler Master 212 Evo
RAM: AMD Raedon Gamer 2133MHz 2X8GB
GPU: Gigabyte WIndforce OC R9 290
Storage: Intel 530 120GB SSD (My server has adequete storage and I plan to purchase a WD Blue later down the road...)
Monitor: ASUS VG248QE 24-inch
Keyboard: CM Storm Devastator
Mouse: CM Storm Devastator

My questions in no particular order:

Is there a black and red case with good airflow for a similar or lesser price than the one I want?
(It would be cool with the CM Storm Devastor as it will be right next to it)
Color is not of the highest importance but it would be cool. It must fit the 11.6 inch GPU, have good airflow and of course, be an ATX form factor.

What is the best SSD for less than 90 bucks. Ideally I want one for around 70 bucks, which is why I am thinking of the Crucial MX100. Cheapest is best. I am willing to sacrifice performance for price. Is the PNY SSD any good? DO they come with 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch converters?

Would the 212 Evo be sufficient to OC the CPU to 4.4 GHz?

Will that cheap 5 dollar munshkin converter work with any SSD to fit in my case? (on amazon)
Yeah I know it should be obvious to me but I don't want to spend more money than I have to.

I will add more questions as I think of them.

Solution

be sure to use AMD Overdrive for stress test and HardwareMonitor for Temps monitoring :) and go with the Arctic MX-4 Paste its worth it very good product you want to buy a same mobo like i have so this is the temps for it while stress test you should watch

Socket temp:71-72c max
CPU temp: 62c Max dont go over it
Mobo temp: 35c (you can go above it but i dont (personal opinion))

dont worry if you hit those temps while stress test you will not hit them in real time gaming monitor them once or twice to see how it performes

I have...

I would not use it on a hotty 8350. But that is personally. There are better ones like the Cooler Master Seidon 120M or the Corsair equivalent. The 8350 is really hot when overclocked.

The GPU is powerful and is proper cooled with three fans.
The SSD is Intel, so is a quality one.
The Motherboard is quality too.
The PSU is already budget (but quality) so no savings here.

I know is more expensive than the Smilodon, but for a powerful AMD rig, an amazing case would be something like a NZXT Phantom 530.

Thank you for replying. The NZXT Phantom is just too much. It looks great but, I really don't think I can get it and stay within budget. If there is anything else I can skimp on that would be awesome.

i have CM 212 EVO with the same CPU and 4.4GHz 56c is max temps under load while airconditioner is not working when it does much lower i had it up to 4.6GHz but temps were just over 61c-62c sometimes i was not fealing comfortable with the temps im gonna use that OC when winter comes to heat up the room :) yes and i use MX-4 Paste from Arctic

I have seasonic M12II EVO 620W and i put my Vcore on 1.361V while 4.4GHz on AMD FX-8350
i dont know how your psu will do i recommend to use all the same settings that this guy did on this video i send to you

and allways look to hit the exact MHz on rams like when its stock (2133MHz in your case) couse the timing tweak with cpu ration in beggining later on do it by yourself you will learn like i did i didnt know a thing about this
