Hi
So i am doing my first system build. I am trying to make it a semi-gaming capable (hopefully play crysis)
Before i even buy the parts to the system i wanted to make sure i have the right compatibility between all the components to build a full pc.
If i could get some insight, either what i am missing or what i should have in place of something else that would be great.
This is what i have come up with.

- Intel Core i7 930 Quad Core (2.80GHz - 3.06GHz Turbo) - LGA1366, 4.8GT/s QPI, HTT, 8MB Cache, 45nm, 130W

- ASUS P6TD Deluxe Motherboard
LGA1366, X58, QPI 6.4GT/s, 6xDDR3-2000, 3xPCI-Ex16 v2.0, 6xSATA-II, 1xeSATA, 1xATA-133, RAID, 2xGigLAN, 8Chl-HD, Firewire, ATX

- Seagate 1000GB (1TB) 7200rpm Serial ATA-II 300 HDD w. 32MB Cache (ST31000528AS) Barracuda 7200.12, NCQ

- ASUS GeForce GTX260 - 896MB DDR3, 448-bit, 2xDVI, HDTV, HDCP, Fansink - PCI-Ex16 v2.0
(576MHz, 1.998GHz)

- ASUS VH242HL LCD Monitor - Black
23.6", Widescreen, 5ms, 1920x1080, 20,000;1, 300cd/m2, VGA/DVI/HDMI, HDCP, Speakers, Full HD

- LG CH08LS10 BluRay Combo Drive - SATA, Retail
8xBD-ROM, 3xHD DVD-ROM, 16xDVD±R, 8xDVD±RW, 8xDVD±R DL, 2xDVD-RAM - Black, Lightscribe

- Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - DVD, 64-Bit - OEM

- G.Skill 6GB (3 x 2GB) PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 RAM - 9-9-9-24 - NQ Series

- CoolerMaster Gladiator RC-600 Midi-Tower Case - 500W PSU, Black
2xUSB2.0, 1xeSATA, 1xHD-Audio, 1x120mm Blue LED Fan, ATX
(Not Quite sure on this, is there a better type for airflow or this alright?)

Do i need anything so i can make the usb slots in the case work?
Cords included or do i have to buy certain ones? What ones?
Do i need to buy extra fans etc..

Im sorry i am such a noob at this and need help.

Thanks in advance :)

You'd do better by following the guidelines (the link is in my signature). We can put together some awesome builds if we know a budget and some other information.

Technically, everything works together. However, it's pretty crappy. Here's a much better build for what I'm guessing is about the same price:

CPU/HSF: X4 955 and Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus $182. The i7-930 is overrated as a gaming CPU. The massive cost of the CPU, board and RAM detract a lot from the more important part of a gaming build.
Mobo/GPU: Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 and HD 5870 $500 after rebate. A much, much better GPU and an excellent AM3 board with USB 3/SATA III support and Crossfire.
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2 GB 1600 mhz CAS Latency 7 $120
HDD: Seagate 7200.12 500 GB $55
Case/PSU: Antec 902 and Earthwatts 750W $155 after rebate. A better case and a much, much, much better PSU. Coolermaster's PSUs are POSs.
Optical: Cheap SATA DVD burner $20. BluRay is completely unnecessary for PCs right now. PCs don't have any use for BR besides playing movies, and even then you'd probably be better off with a standalone player for the price.
Monitor: Asus 23" 1080p $180 after rebate
OS: Windows 7 Home 64-bit OEM $100

Total: $1,312

HAhahah fair enough. Well my budget is about $2000 to $2100 (Australian Dollars)
Thats including monitor etc.
but doesn't include speakers, mouse or keyboard
The website i have been looking for parts is

http://www.techbuy.com.au
http://www.i-tech.com.au/

I dont think there is any type of rebate over here for computer parts really.
I pretty much wanna buy it in one go so it is all delivered at once from the same place and from australia.

Is that rig probably still best suited for me?
My old computer is just a slow Piece of crap, and i want a new computer that will last me a while, and do and have the following

- play crysis lol
- have 1tb of hardrive
- 23" monitor in HDMI or DVI compatibility
- have fairly sleek looking case, not monster looking hahaha

thanks in advance

I don't deal well with other currencies besides USD, and I can't dig through a lot of foreign sites (I'm at work). So I'll give you a parts list and let you do the legwork to convert them to what you can buy. Let me know if it's over budget or drastically under.

CPU/HSF: i5-750 and Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus $222
Mobo/PSU: Asus P7P55D-E Pro and Corsair 750W $265 after rebate
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2 GB 1600 mhz CAS Latency 7 $120
GPU: HD 5970 $700
HDD: Seagate 7200.12 1 TB $80
Case: HAF 922 $100
Optical: Cheap SATA DVD burner $19
Monitor: Asus 23" 1080p $180 after rebate
OS: Windows 7 Home 64-bit OEM $100

Total: $1,786 (about 2,000 AUD in a straight conversion)

If that's a massive amount over budget, you can easily drop the 5970 to a 5870 and be just fine in game.

If you are going overbudget with those specs :
1. Reduce the size of the HDD to 500GB
2. Get cheaper case like Antec 300 or CoolerMaster CM690
Changing those won't effect your performanceand will cut your budget a bit.

If you still have some room, getting an SSD is also not a bad idea.

1.) OP stated he needs 1 TB of storage.
2.) The 5870 is a tight fit in the 300 or the 690. The 5970 definitely won't fit.

There is no way a SSD fits in the budget. A useful size (i.e. 80-128 GB) cost around $300-400. Even if the 5970 was dropped to the 5870, it would be difficult to fit in the budget.

Hi
So i have cruised around and i have found this

Memory - G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC3-12800 1600Mhz DDR3 Memory Kit

Mobo - ASUS P7P55D-E PRO Intel P55 Socket LGA1156 DDR3 Motherboard with 2 x PCI-Ex16, Serial ATA 6Gb/s, RAID, USB3.0, FireWire & GbE LAN

Harddrive - Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB ST31000528AS Serial ATA-II 3.0Gb/s Hard Disk Drive with 32MB Cache (3 Year Warranty)

Video card - HIS ATi Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition 2GB PCI-Express Video Card (HIS-5870-2GBD5-6EYE) with 6 x mini DisplayPort

Case/PSU -Cooler Master HAF 922 ATX Tower Case (RC-922M-KKN1) , Antec EarthWatts Series EA 750 750W ATX Power Supply

CPU - Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz Quad-Core Processor

Optical - 20x Multi Format Dual Layer DVD Writer Drive (Burn DVDs & CDs)

Monitor - ASUS 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor TFT Flat Panel Display with DVI & Speakers

OS - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Version

In total that is going to cost me $2400 australian.

To cut cost i was thinking smaller monitor ( will minus about $50)

Is there maybe a cheaper substite for casing?

Any ideas to maybe bring it down $150 - $200?

Thanks in advance :)

I would drop the HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 version to the regular 5870. That'll save you quite a bit.

I would also look at some other cases. The Antec 900 or 902 and Coolermaster 690 are other great cases that will fit the 5870 and may be cheaper than the HAF.

After that, the only thing I could suggest without some major changes (like going with an AMD build) is dropping the HDD to the 500 GB versions. I know you said you need 1 TB, but if you can get by on 500 GB for a while, that'll save some money now.
