I'm building my first gaming PC and I could use a lot of assistance. My budget is about $2,000 USD, though I'd prefer it to be closer to 1,000. I would like a PC that can play games like BF4 nearly flawless. I will also be streaming a lot of movies or tv shows. I would also prefer it to be somewhat future proof, ie not having to upgrade it in the near future.

I'm positive I went overboard in picking out PC parts so I'm sure I could knock off a few hundred dollars and still get what I want.

Finally, it might be a few months until I start buying the components, so I don't know if there are going to be new parts released in the near future. Thanks for everyone's help.

Onboard audio and NIC should be more than sufficient so you can kill the sound and LAN cards. I would recommend a headset instead of the speakers for audio quality and moving down to a 22" or 23" monitor will shave a chunk off your budget without making you feel shortchanged.

An i7 is overkill for gaming, unless you feel a need to record your game sessions or are constantly encoding 1080p video you would be better suited going with an i5-4670K. It's perfect for gaming and you won't feel sluggish with day to day tasks even while gaming. That motherboard is also overkill. Unless you're overclocking, that liquid cooler is overkill. A sound card is SO unessicary! (Misspelled I know) Actually You could a soon to be annouced AMD r9 290 that includes true audio to do the processing work for you. It's rumored to cost $450. Also I would suggest an i5 an i7 is overkill. The r9 290 also is a better card. I'm pretty sure you don't need a wired network adapter but I'm not sure on that. You could could a cheaper MOBO that's overkill. Also I could suggest dropping the SSD if you wanted to save even more!

This is $200 less and better.

You can get rid of another $100 off the price because the graphics card is getting a price cut of $100. If you want to save even more just ask me for a price point and ill make a list 😉

Here's my spec (it's actually over but the price of the 780 was announced to go down today so by the time you're ready to assemble it will be cheaper) - you could easily step up to a 780 for some wiggle room with the next generation of Morwind or Battlefield games down the road. GPU, CPU and PSU are the 3 components you don't want to skimp on and those should be fine. Motherboard is also a cornerstone but just check to see what features you need for your build and confirm the reliability of the product. Don't need to spend over $200 when you only need the features from a $100 motherboard.
