I am happy because I finally got my first PS2 system. (The fat
version). Now I could play my old TR (PS1) games.

What I do not understand is: What is the expansion bay for? What goes
in there?

Thank you,

SR!

I *think* you can put a hard drive in there for storing things on/enhancing
gameplay, and perhaps other expansions like networking (online gameplay) and
perhaps memory expansion?

Did Google not throw up any answers?

Yes Kieran, I first did a search on this on Google, but most of the info
was on adding a modem. I do not card for online gamming. But, adding
a harddive is cool idea. Playstation will indeed come down in history.

BTW I did play my PS1 games on my PS2 system. And it plays to same. I
though the graphics would be better. But it wasn't.

You won't get any better graphics, all the PS2 is doing is basically
emulating a PS1
