My friend bought a Gigabyte rx 570 4GB today and the owner said it worked, after he told him it didnt work he just blocked him.

When the pc is turned on black screen on both monitors ( i tried connecting it to all ports ), the fans are running on 100% and the led lighting on the side of it is on. And yes the gpu is the problem or something in bios could be i guess, i tested in in 2 separate system which are both working.

The gpu itself seems to be in a bad condition, something white on the fins, some corrosion on the metal where you screw the gpu in the case, and plastic around one display port seems to be broken as well.

Any help is appreciated

That's a sign of a huge red flag. Something fishy.

Most likely the guy sold a defective GPU, or why else would they block your friend ? I'm afraid nothing much can be done if the GPU is indeed faulty.

Maybe he/she sold a used MINING GPU. Before buying he should have tested the card first. Which PSU did you use to power up the GPU ? Rest of the PC specs of your friend ?

We tested it in my pc, so i3 12100f, 16gb of ram 3200mhz, asus h610m-a d4, samsung 980 500GB, lc 6550 v2.2, also we tested in a repair shop just to be sure and it was the same as on my place

Your friend got scammed. Without knowing more it would be impossible to say if there was any legal recourse. All things considered it is probably worthwhile to consider it a learning experience, chalk it up as a loss and move on. Even if you could take the person to court or such there would be loads of questions as to the assumption of liability for purchasing a used part on another's word and being real, the calculation of how much your time is worth to chase it.

If it looks good otherwise or will clean up well, place it as a decoration and consider a safer method of purchase next time.

Can you test the GPU by using some other power supply ? This particular LC POWER PSU model should be avoided for powering any discrete GPU setup. That's a poor quality power supply.

Although it's almost certain your friend got cheated and scammed, it wouldn't hurt to check the GPU by using some other HIGH quality and a reliable PSU model.

Did you properly connect the PCIe 6/8-pin power connector to the RX 570 from the LC Power PSU ? Also make sure monitor's cable is also plugged in properly to the video card's display port.

Yeah both of us learned something new the buyer profile was sus but we didnt care because i was buying from that site a lot which is basically amazon in our country and never had a bad experience and his first time well - he got scammed at least its not a big amount of money so he wont be doing anything legally since it would cost more even if he got the money back

Yes we did, like i said we took it to a repair shop for a second opinion same thing on a better psu, and that psu even though its not good has been serving me well so far with discrete gpus even ones that required more power.

Yes i did i checked everything i could and still nothing. Thanks i just wanted to know if there was something i havent tried

You've been lucking out with the LC Power PSU; that it hasn't fried anything obviously yet doesn't mean it hasn't already shortened the eventual lifespan of the things that have been connected to it. There's a very real chance that the PSU finished off a GPU that was already heading towards the grave.

There are only two conditions in which you should consider a used GPU:

- You're buying through a site like eBay that offers buyer protection.
- The person is a friend who you've established trust with.

I'm very sorry to hear you friend may have gotten scammed, but I'm glad it's not a large amount of money for him. It's really depressing when someone gets scammed out of money they cannot afford to lose. Lessons like this ought to sting, but not hurt.
