My friends gtx 1080 might be broken

So my friend messaged me and asked if i could test his GPU. He told me that it just stopped working on his computer so i tried it on mine and it doesn't seem to work. Fans are not spinning, but the odd thing is that Windows is still able to detect it. I tried to start MSI AB but it didn't recognize it.

Is this GPU now officially dead and should we just send it to warranty or is there anything we could do to fix this?

Yes i installed Nvidia drivers and it shows up at device manager, but it's not working.

Could you define 'not working'? Fans don't have to run until card gets hot, so that's hardly any proof of not working.

Sorry i forgot to tell you this but card does not output any signal to monitor, . So basically let me make a list of things:

- Fans are not spinning, but when i start up my computer it does little twitch and then just stops
- No signal
- Windows detects it
- Afterburner doesn't detect it
- I have proper drivers installed
- Cards led lightning is working
- I have properly connected my card to mob
- I have properly connected PSU cables to GPU

Sorru for my bad writing skills. I'm not so good explaining things, but i hope that this list is able to tell people more information about this problem.

Ok, I got it now. Considering all info, there is one more thing to check - another port on GPU (I assume the video cable you are using is known to work). If the other port also gives no display, then I would consider the card as being faulty.

Look at the pads that connect to the pci slot. All of them look fine and shinny?
Has he changed the thermal compound or disassembled? I ask that to discard physical damage.
