This will be my first time actually buying parts for my computer and putting them together, so I wanted to make sure everything was compatible and if anyone has any opinions/recommendations on them.

I would not suggest going MSI when buying your motherboard. Also you may want to look into dropping the I7-2600k for the I5-2500k. They give about the same gaming performance and you could put the money towards an SSD or a better motherboard. Also have you looking into Antec or Corsair for your PSU? They may be a little more, but it is very worth it in the end.

To have a budget of $1,200 and only come out of it with a measly 6870 is pretty bad.
