I recently got a new computer, and unfortunately had to go from Windows 10 to Windows 11. I also transfered my two gaming drives (WD Black 8tb) and each have their own drive letter. The problem that I am having is that every time I access these for any reason, they freeze for 5 to 10 seconds. I did an error check on both disks, they have high speed USB cables connecting to USB C ports on the computer, so they should be very fast. I didn't have this problem in Windows 10. Could the problem have something to do with the new disk format that Windows 11 uses? Do I need to re-format both hard drives to this new format? I have seen online oither people complain about this happening, but the suggested solutions are always check the disk(s) or reformat main hard drive (it is brand new). Any suggestions?

was USB-C used before this new PC as well?

did you connect the USB-C to the rear of the computer or the case front? Might be problematic if connected to the front

install all drivers and update BIOS (chipset, IME, USB, GPU, storage)

maybe the drives are sleeping while not used, change the settings to always on (energy management), might not be possible with all devices
