hello, i just recently upgraded my pc with the specs listed below and i feel as if i am not unleashing my rig's full potential. I have optimized my rig a little bit and overclocked my gpu +100mhz, and my gpu usage is 20-30% and cpu is 25-35% - currently getting about 180-230 fps in game when i should be getting 240+ consistent. please i need help with figuring out why my rig is underperforming, this is my last resort

Specs:
MBD: Asus B550-F Wifi II
CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X
GPU: 4060 Ti 16GB
RAM: 32GB 3600Mhz
PSU: 750W Bronze PSU
Storage: 2 x 1TB M.2 SSD

Hey there! Your setup is solid, but low GPU usage (20-30%) suggests a potential bottleneck. Are you playing on low settings or a low resolution? That can shift the load to the CPU - try increasing graphical settings to balance it. Also, double-check for FPS caps, V-Sync, or background apps hogging resources (like overlays). Update all drivers, ensure your power settings are on "High Performance," and monitor temps in case of throttling. Lastly, what game and resolution are you playing? Some games just don't hit 240+ FPS consistently due to optimization quirks.

Hello thank you for your input, i am playing fort and I am running performance mode on all low settings, I have my drivers updated to the most recent and i run 1440x1080

edit: sorry i cant put the whole game name in the response because it for some reasons blocks and filters it.

At 1440x1080 on low settings, your CPU is likely taking most of the load while your GPU sits underutilized. Try increasing your graphical settings (like textures or shadows) to balance the workload and improve FPS stability. Check temps to ensure no throttling (CPU <85°C, GPU <80°C). Finally, unnecessary apps or overlays should be closed to free up resources.

any suggestions for this? i feel like i should be getting way more fps... do you think personally that i should be getting better fps based on my specs?
Why do you 'feel' you should be getting way more fps? Is this because you have upgraded or because you have seen someone with a similar system get better performance?

A 3060ti to a 4060ti with the exception of the VRAM increase is not that much of a upgrade performance wise really, if at all in a number of games.

Some games may take advantage of the extra cores that moving from a 5600x to 5900x offers but I wouldn't expect to see a huge difference in a lot of games.

Longer term you will likely reap the rewards as the 16gb Vram and extra cpu cores will help but in the short term then it may offer similar performance

All of this! ^^^^^

Not really upgrades for gaming. More sidegrades.

With a click of PBO your 5600x can have as good IPC/clockspeeds as the 5900x. Just check my sig for my CPU-z on my current build.

The 3060ti to a 4060ti is not a huge bump. The 4060ti has a cut down mem interface 128-bit, which is what you expect in low-mid level gaming cards versus the 256bit bus on the 3060ti, and only performs better in a handful of games. Games that are bandwidth limited respond better to a 3060ti. Nvidia really gimped the 4060/ti mainstream go to! I think the idea being, they assume those looking for good performance on that level, will now have to go to a 4070 or higher for what we'd thought the 4060/ti would be.
