This is something I have personally dealt with in the past with some of my pc's,.Them shutting off unexpectedly is a very vague problem, Usually I can diagnose the problem by myself but this one just has me stumped.
A few details about my setup:
- Windows Vista (which I absolutely hate)
- AMD quad core processor (which i'm not a fan of, normally an intel guy)
- Four seperate 2 gig ram cards
- One single Nvidia geforce 9800gt
- Random ASRock motherboard 140W cpu (been working fine for over half a year)
- Random Hard Drive (been working fine for over half a year)
So there are a few other things about my PC that come into factor here.. It's not to dirty dust wise and fan wise.
BUT A BIG ISSUE... I JUST NOTICED that internal fan sucking in on the power supply itself is broken.. not spinning at all, which I feel could very well most likely be my problem.. But its weird there is no way this is an overheating problem because it shut off starting it up, just after HOURS of being off. ALSO RIGHT BEFORE IT CUTS THE POWER, its sounds as though you threw a small pebble into a fan, and its tinking around in there for a couple seconds. Can't hear where exactly its coming from, my guess is the power supply or maybe even my hard drive.
basically I checked my "EVENT LOG FOR ERRORS"
I got Kernel-Processor-Power error is what did it FORSURE, because i checked the time stamps matched the exact time my comp cut power. Under details it says this: Some processor performance power management features have been disabled due to a known firmware problem. Check with the computer manufacturer for updated firmware.
This is a very complex problem i know, But i know that there is someone out there that can help me diagnose this.. I KNOW there is.
Any help at all would be appreciated, thank you everyone.
