I am requesting the professional expertise of somebody who can tell me if upgrades to my rig in the future will be possible. I currently have a GTX Titan mounted onto my motherboard, and I plan to eventually sell the Titan and purchase two GeForce GTX 780 Ti that I would set up in a SLI based configuration. I have two 30 inch monitors currently in use, but I would like to purchase a third to be configured with my two-way SLI. I have heard that SLI configurations interfere with 3 monitor set ups. Is this true? How can I make this work? Keep in mind that i need the highest performance possible as for I will be using variations of high performance software for rendering very large files, and editing and creating things of proportionate scale.

Solution
So, the 780 TI has four video outputs, DVI, DVI-D, HDMI, and Display port. Each of these ports can efficiently and effectively be used for and individual monitor. When you add more than one monitor, no matter what, you will be loosing performance, however, having two 780ti's, you will be able to use three monitors without seeing that big of a performance dip. Obviously if you only used one monitor you would see better performance, but in this case, you will get great performance with the three monitors. You should be fine with 2 780ti's and 3 monitors. As long as the monitors are only 1080p that is. If they are 2k or 4k, good luck. But like I said, 2 780ti's will get you great performance with 3 monitors.

Hope this helps!

One more question. If I was to have two monitors connected with HDMI cables (respectively), would the performance of the monitor be affected if I was to connect the third via DVI?

Yes, but the performance dip will not be very severe. Every extra monitor you add, no matter what you will lose a bit of performance, but in this case it will be quite minimal.
