MY GPU Isn't working when mining?

I've started mining with minergate and tell minergate to use my GPU and it runs but when I check my task manager, this is what it gets: https://gyazo.com/939e6a3e55bdf59bbe415cd9d18e310c

It doesn't run. It's like 0% and 1%. I used to play games but maybe it never used my GPU. The software minergate said its using my GPU 3 cores but why in my task manager it said my GPU activity is 0%.

I'm confused. I have that gpu in 3GB. Anyone know how I can test my GPU and make it run? It seems like its using my cpu and ram instead of my GPU.

Solution
Those Nvidia cards mine ETH faster, but not much faster. The Nvidia cards cost more, so it would take longer to make your money back.

GTX 1070 =
26-30MH/s ETH
~400Sol/S ZEC

GTX 1070 Ti =
26-30MH/s ETH
~460Sol/s ZEC

GTX 1080 Ti =
30-35MH/s ETH
~660Sol/s ZEC

RX 570/580 =
21-29MH/s ETH
~290-340 Sol/s ZEC

*I think Sol/s = H/s in ZEC.

I own 1-2 of each of those cards and those are my experiences with them. Except my RX cards can't go past 25MH/s on ETH. So I've been mining ZEC and using Nicehash.

So you're having the same issue? You're running nicehash fine but the task manager shows 0-1% GPU usage?

How fast are you mining? I can only mine 300 h/s. Is that normal for my GPU

I'm mining BCN. Is 300H/s any good? Does the hash rate changes depending on what im mining?

Do you have any tips on what kind of rig i should build to mine zcash or eth? I want to mine that and build a mining rig but idk what to buy. so many options

So do you think I should get an AMD instead of Nvidia? I'm not really sure what coin I want to mine yet but I want a gpu that is efficent in mining any type of coin.

How much more efficient does the amd mine zec than nvidia?

Does nvidia not mine eth well? How much slower?

Well there ya go. Mine ZEC with your R9 280. I have a Nitro+ RX 580 8GB w/ Micron memory that even after custom BIOS will only do 25Mh/s ETH. I've had other lesser cards do more than that. But then again, I've got an 2x RX 570 4GB GAMING X that do 25MH/s, but there was one time one was doing 29MH/s. But that was it, just that one random time. I really hate messing with AMD cards mining, they are so finicky and have to be tediously tweaked to get the most out of them. With Nvidia you just increase the clock and that's it. Not bios modding, driver patching, etc.

I've owned 8 different brands/models RX 4xx/5xx cards that I've tweaked and flashed custom BIOS and had various results ranging from 23-29MH/s. I don't know all there is to know but I know they require a lot of work unless you have all the same card and know exactly what to do to get the most out of them.
