My GPU sits on 40% usage during gaming.

When I'm playing BF3 my GPU uses 40% percent of it's usage which means in some places my frames dip to the high 30's, but when I run Heaven Benchmarking with tessellation on it's use's 99% of my GPU.

Does anybody know what the go here is? I just want high frames on BF3, my 7850 has the same performance on BF3 as my new card. The only difference is the frames are twice as high on the 7970 when running Heaven Benchmarking.

My specs are a overclocked FX-6100 at 3.9 GHZ, Sapphire 7970 3GB OC Edition, 800W PSU, 8 GB's of RAM, WD Blue 500 GB hard drive.

Yes. It is way better.

Also people keep trying to make me switch to Intel. Would the FX-8350 be a good CPU upgrade? Or should I just get the Core i5? Which means buying another motherboard.

I have the FX 8350. It is a great processor. If you get it, you don't have to deal with the hassle of buying a new motherboard and re-installing windows.

I have the FX 8350. It is a great processor. If you get it, you don't have to deal with the hassle of buying a new motherboard and re-installing windows.

I'll buy it in 3 weeks. I overclocked my card using the software that came with this card and my GPU usuage on BF3 is still at 40 percent. Should I uninstall the latest beta drivers and try the ones that came with the card?

You are overclocking the wrong part. You need to OC the CPU for any improvements. It is the CPU holding back your GPU.

Yeah I have had enough of trying to make this GPU run better on BF3. I'll buy a FX-8350, the best OC I could get on this FX-6100 with my terrible Gamma Blade air cooler was 3.877 GHZ. I have seen people get better frames with the same card and a quad core AMD processor?

i also have an amd FX-6100 but i have a gtx 1060 6gb aorus edition and when im gaming on forza horizon 3 i noticed my cpu was hovering just below 100% usage while my gpu was under 50% so now i also have to upgrade my cpu and i just wanted to know how your gaming experience improved now that you upgraded to a FX-8350 cpu because im about to buy one too.

If possible, you'd be better off upgrading to a newer platform. Forget the FX line. Look at the new AMD Ryzen and Intel systems. You won't see a big improvement sticking to that platform.

ik ik but upgrading the processor for ultra 1080p gaming at 60Hz is all i want.

That's not true. There are a few games which simply reach those sustained FPS, no matter what CPU you have, but at least it does allows the games you are playing to reach those FPS.

well im stuck to a 60hz monitor so id say that my current set up is A okay
