The gpu in question is a EVGA e-Geforce 8800 GTS 640MB.
I was cleaning the pc, forgot to plug its fan back in
after noticing a little lag in my game of minecraft i opened afterburner
the whole room smelled like plastic but the gpu didn't even artifact...
any comments?
did i just set the world record for hottest running gpu?

Not sure. The heatsink I assume was still installed and will act passively to some extent. Not every gpu has a fan, relying instead on a heatsink somewhat smaller than what's on your gpu.

You'd think a gpu would have some sort of artifacting or other errors at reaching that temp.
