Ive recently gotten a 980 ti but when i try to slide it into its socket it wont fully go into it.

It almost looks like its good but it feels off.
I think it is due to a sort of cover thats covering my io port but im not 100% sure.

980ti=
Asus STRIX-GTX980TI-DC3OC-6GD5-GAMING

Mobo=
ASUS TUF B450M-PLUS GAMING

Any tips?

Take off the IO cover is only a couple screws. It will take away some of the flair from the computer, but the card will probably seat better.
Ill try and get a good picture of what i mean. But the motherboard has some sort of shroud near the io port. That is what is blocking it i think. It cant be removed.

Have you tried to insert it into the second slot? Does it feel like it goes down any further?

According to the user manual you should use the first slot (gray) for best performance, but it doesn't say that you can't use the second slot. The performance difference might be negligible. I'd try that first for attempting surgery.
