Question My Graphics card fan spins uncontrollably and the machine does not post.

I have had this problem with my Radeon R9 290x for a long time and actually downgraded to a 750TI just to get rid of it. I recently decided that I would like to either fix it or just get rid of the card and you guys are my last chance.

So, on startup, my 290x usually starts having a fan spasm and blows like a jet engine, without posting( and no video), until i switch off the power. And every once in a while it boots normally and you would never know that the problem existed.

Could it just be an overheating problem? Would the fix for that be to take it apart and try putting new thermal past on?

Do any of you have any ideas? I am ready to provide any necessary info or to take the card apart if I have to.

My rig is:
AMD FX6300 6 core 3.5 Mhz
24 GB RAM
Radeon R9 290x
Thermaltake Toughpower GOld 750W
ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0
Windows 7 Pro

We know the 290x does run hot, and it may be going to die or overheat, that nobody will know.

So you may try to open it up, and replace the thermal paste. Also clean the fans too.

Well, It doesn't seem to have changed a thing. Any other possibilities or just scrap?
