[SOLVED] My graphics card not working

I have a dual card laptop. When i game on Intel there is no problem. But when I game on nvidia 940mx my laptop just stops being charged and it fills screen with a random color. No sound, no ctrl alt delete react. Nothing. Just a random color and no charging. When i shutdown using power button it is starting to charge again. Also there is no charge problem when not using 940mx. I'm gaming with a monitor. Sorry for my bad English skills.

Sounds like the GPU is faulty or overheating.

You might have some success from opening up the laptop, cleaning every individual part with 99.9% isopropyl alcohol and reassembling it. However this is not an "easy" job. There will be dozens of screws all different sizes, and you would need a set of miniature screwdrivers to open it, and likely there will be plastic tabs holding everything together that you will need to find and unlatch.

You should also replace the thermal pads and the thermal paste while you're in there. You can buy a pack of generic laptop thermal pads from ebay for a couple of dollars, and a tube of high quality non-conductive thermal paste might cost five dollars.

I would estimate 4 hours work to fully disassemble, clean, and reassemble a laptop for the first time. Find a guide on Youtube for your specific laptop to help you.

This is also not guaranteed to fix your issue. Cleaning out a laptop is good practice and should be done every 1-2 years, but your issue might be more than just overheating, the GPU itself may be faulty in which case no amount of cleaning will fix it, and there is not much else you can do.

I bought this laptop 4 years ago and cleaned a couple of times (just fan with hoover) so i will try this. I am using a cooler under my laptop. The electrician guy in my town said that the GPU is in bad health. He suggested BGA Reballing but this problem would happen again in 3 - 6 months. So I'm considering building a low budget (200$) desktop using old parts. You know using a xeon processor from Aliexpress etc. Thx for reply and help btw.

You can't perform BGA re-balling on a GPU in a laptop unless you happen to live in China where the motherboard factory is, and you know someone at the factory who would do that for you. The PCB is way too small and intricate for that sort of a process without specialist equipment.

Chances are it is simply overheating, and the fans and heatsinks etc have become clogged with dust. Around the 5-year mark is when most laptops start to suffer from this. Earlier if they get used a lot outdoors or in dusty environments.

A low budget desktop would be a great idea. But don't buy those AliExpress parts, they're dire. Most of the time they are used, and when they are not used they tend to be fake.

If I was making a budget desktop system I would buy a used Dell Optiplex from eBay, put a decent GPU in it and call it done. However GPUs are a rare and valuable commodity these days so you may want to wait until that situation resolves itself in a year or so.
