Hi i recently built a Gaming PC
FX8320 @ 4.0 GHz
Gigabyte 990XA UD3 Motherboard
Sapphire Radeon HD7850
2 X 4 GB Kingston Hyper X fury 1600 Mhz Ram
XFX TS 550 Watt PSU
1 terabyte laptop HDD for storage
500 GB HDD for OS
Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler
Gigabyte 3d Aurora Gaming Case

I have replaced the CPU and The motherboard for other reasons so no it probably isnt caused by those co's does it with the new ones. I thought it could be the laptop HDD so put the OS on a normal HDD and still crashes display drivers.
I swapped the ram in different slots with one stick or 2 in different config's still crashes.

Only thing left to do is get a new Graphics card but worry that if i do will it just still crash with the new one as nothing i change seems to make a difference.
I will be playing a game and the screen just goes grey and can still hear the game but have to do a hard reset of the computer to get back to desktop.

The few times it has crashed on the desktop it says the display driver has crashed. I have tried multiple install of windows 8.1 windows 7 and windows 10 tech preview all to no avail.
I have cleared and reinstalled graphics drivers untold times. and still it persists.

So what the hell do i do please any help fixing this will be greatly appreciated oh and problem seems to be getting worse it started out being a weekly or fortnightly problem with a couple of games and is now a daily problem with most games

Please Help!!

What temperatures is your GPU running at?

Likely causes - Need to update driver, Bad GPU, Hot Temperatures/inadequate airflow to GPU or case, I would also say loose cables here but it sounds like your GPU has crashed to desktop.. Did you install all your motherboard drivers also?

Flashing BIOS is a last resort but that honestly doesn't sound like your problem. If you do try to update BIOS, make sure to use a USB drive and flash on boot up. DO NOT flash BIOS from Windows...

I had a HD 6970 that had a similar issue (a Sapphire as well) and the only thing I could do to get it to work was to slightly underclock the GPU and memory clocks. If you want to try this, go into the CCC and enable Overdrive, then slide the clocks back like 25 at a time and see if the situation improves.

This may not be not solve your problem, but it allowed me to use my card for an extra year, and even with the underclocking I didn't notice any real drop in my games performances at the time. Good luck!

it's running at normal temps i updated bios to latest one and it has good airflow all round and good cable management

yeah i fiddled with the GPU clocks but only a little so will try again and hopefully have more luck will let you know how it goes
