I have a gtx 1080 running with an i7 6700k on an Asus Z170-A board and it only posts with onboard graphics. Every time I use my 1080 it will make a signal to my monitor but only to a black screen. I've already tried in one of my friend's computers and it worked fine. I've enabled iGFX and then installed my GPU and I got a Code 43 which mean Windows has stopped the device because it has reported problems.

Solution
make sure your monitor is connected to the 1080 not the integrated

is your psu up to running it?

check 6/8 pin connectors are firmly in the 1080

check the 1080 is properly clicked into the pci-e slot

Delete the Nvidia Experience file completely and re-install. Do not use the drivers that came with it. I had a similar problem with a 1070- once I re-installed I have had no problems.

What do you mean by re-install?
