Well, depends on how much money you wan't to spend. GPU prices are still very high. If money is no problem, why not going with a 1080(ti)?

Also depends on what you are doing with your PC and what monitor(s) you have.

If you are just playing at 1080P 60/75Hz a 1070 should be enough, a 1070TI would also be an option.

Wow! a dead GPU in a very bad time to get a decent new one. You have quite a very bad luck my friend.

Your I7 4770k PC is still very powerful and can take any GPU you can afford.
What kind of monitor you are playing on? The decision for the GPU depends on the monitor.
1440p 144/165hz? GTX1080Ti
1440p 60hz? GTX1070Ti or 1080
1080p 144/165hz? GTX1070
1080p 60hz? GTX1060 6GB

The only problem now is, that I paid €480 for my 1080 about 2 years ago but you have to pay perhaps €800 for a 1080.
Now, with €400 you get only 1060 6gb.
Either you have to dig deeper into your pocket or lower down the gpu.
e.g. For 1440p 60hz, 1070 will do also just fine...even it is also ok with GTX1060 6gb. YOu just have to reduce more settings.

thanks for the comments,

seems that 1080TI is not that good to justify the price difference with 1080 (3600TRY- 5100TRY)

my current monitor is an old one but that OK, because i will change it in 4-8 months time to a 1440p one.

the games that i play for exemple, BF1, SW Battlefront2, Space Engineers, World Of Tanks/Warships, Total War2 etc....

i normally use one card for around 4 yrs.

if i buy a 1060 or 1070 i fear that after 2-3 yrs they will become useless...

on the other hand, even today i can not find a new LGA 1150 CPU for my mainboard to update it... so i start to think that buying high end hardware and using it for a long time like 4 years (to justify its price tag) is something that is not advisable...

decisions decisions.

what do you think of this btw?

Its better to pay less and upgrade more often, then when you can sell the old card for good market value. The top end cards are always very bad value for money.

I would grab a 1060 6gb or 1070 depending on the prices. Either will be a good upgrade over the 780.

yes that might be the solution...

i just realised that the prices are elevated drastically in last 6 months!... i am re-considering to buy anything for now.
