my harddrive is plugged in but showing a blue flashing light instead of white

Hard Drive not working showing a blue flashing light before stopping and not allowing me access files. Usually displays a white flashing light.

Anyone able to help?

Hi there gcoughlan94,

Does the HDD show somewhere(Disk Management, Device Management, BIOS)? If it is, it is a really good idea to run a testing tool and check out its health.
I would also advise you to try connecting it with different cables and to a different port.
