My HDD died, looking for suggestions on SSDs

So I was using 2 HDDs, a WD Black 1TB as a boot drive and a WD Red 1TB for storage.

The Black one died couple days ago, so I'm using the Red one at the moment as a boot drive.

We all know how much of a pain it is to boot from a 5400rpm HDD so I thought I would spend some hard-earned cash on a new HDD and SSD.

I found a quite cheap Toshiba 1TB HDD but my real issue is the SSD. I was looking at the Intel 600p 128GB M.2 but I own a Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 5 mobo and while it does have a m.2 slot I read a few threads where the drives wouldnt boot or work well and I would like to avoid that entirely.

So my question is, [strike]do you think the intel 600p 128gb would work on my mobo?[/strike] If not, do you have any suggestions for a drive at a similar price?

EDIT: Can I hope for a m.2 PCI-E adapter to make the magic happen or should I just give up and get SATA?

EDIT 2: The SSD will be used as a boot drive and nothing else. My budget is 60-70 euros and the prices in my country are pretty high especially when it comes to popular items.

Solution
Just get a SATA drive. It'll allow you to get 250 GB for similar money and if you're comming from a hard drive the speed difference will be so massive you won't care. Something like the Samsung 850 Evo or SanDisk ultra III are top notch. Stay away from any of the no ram having hunks of junk.

Thanks for your quick response. Sadly most of the 250GB SSDs are way above my budget especially sandisk and samsung ones. The Z410, X400 and Ultra II from sandisk have decent prices but none from Samsung, the cheapest 120GB is the 750 evo at 85 euros which again is above my budget.

EDIT: I keep mentioning a budget but never stated any amounts. I have a total of 110 euros. 45 of those will go towards the Toshiba HDD mentioned in the OP and the rest will be used for an SSD. The budget is pretty strict so even 10 euros above it will hurt tremendously. /s

it all depends on what you are planning on doing on your system - unless you're transferring lots of data continuously, then you wouldn't really need to go between a 2.5" SATAIII drive. I personally like Samsung's 850 Evo - good performance and reliability for relatively cheap compared with some of the Intels on the market. A 250GB is fairly sufficient for an OS disk unless you want to keep your entire video game library on your OS disk for fast load times. If you're willing to migrate the files between your HDD based on what you're playing, 250GB is enough. If you would prefer to keep a large quantity or just to not have to think about it, I usually use a 500GB. If you continually price-shop, you can usually get them fairly cheap - think BB had them at $159 last week.

It's just gonna be a boot drive, nothing else. It will probably have Opera, HWmonitor, rainmeter, UTorrent, discord etc. No games or applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, 3ds max etc. I can only afford a 120GB ssd and my budget for it is less than 75 USD.

EDIT: Just to give you an idea of my needs, the WD Red I am using as a boot drive, has about 60 GBs used at the moment and that includes Overwatch, the smallest (in size) game in my "library". I think a 120GB would be perfect for this. Also any other game or program I might want to use I can use it with the HDD I'm buying.
