Hey all,

I swapped my motherboard yesterday and re-used one of my drives. I have a WD HDD. The drive is not appearing in windows with the letter D next to it. I can only see the drive on Disk Management and Device Manager. I am unable to assign it a letter. To be clear, I do NOT want to reformat the drive if i can avoid it.

I already reinstalled the drivers for the drive, that did nothing.

How do I get the drive to be recognized in Windows 10?

Solution
The drive has a 1.8TB Linux swap partition???

If you d-click the "Storage HDD" volume and expand the $Root, do you see your file/folder tree? If so, then do the following steps.

R-click the LinSwap partition and select "Remove the Partition".

R-click the "Storage HDD" volume and select "Insert the Partition (Undelete)".

Apply Changes and reboot so that Windows can redetect the drive.

Can you show full Disk Management window (with all drives visible)?

What model NVME drives?

Your D: drive is showing as 6TB. How do you get 6TB from 4TB WD drive?
Are you using Windows storage spaces and combining space from nvme drives with mechanical drive?

Drive D is a USB External HD. Don't pay any attention to that. It's another backup I have. The only internal drives I have are the 2 M.2 drives and the 1 4TB HDD.

The drives are Samsung 970 Pro 512 TB.

I haven't touched the drive since I changed motherboards. It's possible I might have changed a settings via the BIOS when I spent all day installing my OS, but other than that I haven't done anything. The drive was never in an enclosure. It's been my "large files" drive since my last build. The capacity I used to have was 4TB total. I don't remember there being two partitions.

I believe I might have a cloud backup of my files, but I'm still working on that as we speak.
