I have a western digital hdd WDC WD50. I had 81 bad sectors but then I ran HDD regenerator 2011. It was able to repair most of the sectors but there are still 3 sectors which are labelled as bad. Kindly tell me what should i do ?

Hi there,
If you are on windows you need to run a disk check, as this will locate the bad sectors and make sure windows doesn't use them to prevent any errors.
It will also try to repair bad ones.
First open "My computer"
Then right click on the drive and click "Properties"
Then navigate to the "Tools" tab.
Under "Error checking" click "Check" and follow the steps.
**Please note you will need to reboot
Hope this helps!

Hi

You should back up all your data
Ensure you have a working windows or windows recovery disk available

Buy a new hard disk as it is likely the drive will get worse.

You could try the WD data life guard windows software or bootable diagnostics disk which is specially made for WD hard disks

It may say whole disk is dying or it may fix the remaining bad sectors

Run diagnostics once a week for a while to see if bad sector numbers increasing .

Ensure you backup regularly as disk is living on borrowed time and could stop working at any time

Data on hard disk is much more valuable than cost of a replacement disk
