My HDD is showing up as a "Removable Disk Drive"

hey all.
one of my 2tb HDD started showing up as a "Removable Disk Drive"
ive reformatted the hard drive (and computer today) it but it still comes up in the task bar under the "safely remove hardware and Eject Media"
the hard drive in question is a WD20EARX (full name in Device Manager WDC WD20 EZRX-00DCB0 SCSI Disk Device) and the Location is: Bus Number 0, Target Id 1, LUN 0 (i dont know if that will help)
my motherboard is a
ive been running win 7 for a long time now and its just started doing this lately, i just finished the fresh install of win 7 hoping that would of fixed it but its still showing
its displayed in "Devices and Printers" but i can also find it in "Disk Management"
i just cant think of anything else. ive even uninstalled and shut down th pc ad re installed, but to no avail

It means that your motherboard supports hot swapping of hard drives. You can disable the AHCI feature on your motherboard and it should disappear.

is it possible to keep AHCI on as i have an ssd but turn off the hotswap?

Hmm... you could try going into bios and change your HDD settings from AHCI to IDE.

Hmm... you could try going into bios and change your HDD settings from AHCI to IDE.

i read somewhere crazy that if i install windows while in AHCI then go back to IDE it will stuff up something, is this true or just a myth?

also why are two hard drives in a location (0&1) and the other is all over the place?

Fixed it.
i uninstalled the HDD and shutdown the pc, then pluged the HDD into another SATA Port, turned on PC, installed the drivers and it is now working fine.

HDD now shows a Location of #2

My HDD started to showing as removable (in addition to the fact that my HDD changed type from ATA to SCSI) exactly after installing Gigabyte Raid Configurer in Windows 10. So I just entered Safe Mode, searched for "recovery" (via Windows Search), opened Recovery -> Advanced startup -> reboot now, chose "Restore from a system restore point" and selected point related to Gigabyte

Thank you, I’m running windows 10, 64 Bits, SATA Toshiba HDD 500 GB, and had the same problem “My hard drive it’s a removable drive in windows 10” or “SATA HDD showing up as removable drive” so RESTART = F10 (this is for HP Compaq to enter Bios) SATA SUPORT = ENABLE did change to DISABLE and all done THANKS
