So I just recently bought a Seagate Barracuda 7200 500GB and after the package came in I noticed that it was only a standalone HDD it didn't came with adapters, nor did it come with an enclosure either so I bought a separate HDD to USB adapter and after testing it out it still didn't come up in my recognized devices after doing a bit of digging to find out a solution I came up short I just didn't get it every time I plugged in the adapter with the HDD it lit up with a blue and red light. I don't know the root of the problem but I theorized what the problem probably is, it could probably have something to do with me buying the wrong adapter or something software-wise.

I'll just post the HDD as well as the adapter I bought:

You bought a 3.5 hdd the adapter is for a 2.5 disk.
You need an adapter that has an extra power source.

Yeah, I figured that was the problem I just wasn't sure in my head at the start lmao but thanks for confirming my suspicions. I bought a 3.0 I think so I guess buying a 3.5 adapter will fix everything right?

You're confusing numbers here.
3.0 is USB version.
3.5" is HDD form factor.
Completely different things.

You need powered USB SATA enclosure for 3.5" HDDs.

USB SATA 3.5"enclosure
