I'm facing many issues with my hdd i.e

#Hdd led get stucks at red like it is ment to light up not to blink

#after lighting up the system stops functioning and hangs like shit for min or 2

#This occurs frequently not only after boot, even slight disk usage can initiate its stuck

#During high disk usage task not single work can be done, even the music player lags

#Sometimes booting stucks at star...windows boot animation and the animation doesn't initiate for a long time. i have to use repair disk to fix this problem but this problem shows up again

This behaviour of hdd makes me worried about its life span. does my hdd going to dead
Its more than 4 yrs from the day of purchase

My specs are
i3 4160
12 gig ddr3
gtx 560ti
ZEB-600w power supply
HDD:Seagate Barracuda 1 TB Desktop Internal Hard Drive (ST31000524AS)

some times it feels like its my psu
https://www.zebronics.com/products/platinum-series/zeb600w
Its 27A in +12V I don't know anything about power supply but people suggest 30+A normally

Plz help how do I fix it

If you have not reformatted this disk in more than 4 years then it is probably badly fragmented.

Your best option would be to buy a small SSD 60gb or 120gb and install your OS onto it. Back up any important data from your 1TB drive, and reformat it completely.

Then just use it as a secondary storage drive along side the new SSD. 4 years is quite long time for the life of a hard drive, so it may be showing signs of wear and tear also. Consider getting a secondary backup drive to replace it when it fails.

Normally I suggest defragging, but the first three symptoms listed almost conclusively point to a dying hard drive. If the drive is badly fragmented, the pauses when the drive gets "stuck" should be accompanied by rapid blinking. A solid light happens when the drive experiences a CRC failure and tries to read the same data over and over and over again.

If the drive is dying in this manner, defragmenting is the last thing you want to do because it'll take days if not weeks to complete, and the drive may fail completely while you're waiting. You want to:

1) Copy your important data off the drive ASAP, while it's still functioning. Don't just make a full backup - that might fail if the drive is in a bad state. Individually copy all your important files to an external drive or flash drive first.

2) Run Seagate's diagnostic tools to verify if the drive is dying.

3) If it is dying, buy a replacement drive and attempt to clone the original to the replacement, or make a full backup.

Hard drives are only supposed to have a life span of around 5 years so you are getting really close to that mark. With the way your hard drive is behaving, I wouldn't bee surprised if it died within the next month. While you have the chance back up all of your important files and buy or start saving up for a new drive. As Neuro suggested you can reformat the drive and continue using it, but I wouldn't trust it, I would only keep games and toher things that won't matter if you loose.

A new 1tb drive is only $52: WD Blue 1TB, and you could pair it with an SSD for fast boot speeds and even better performance on certain games. Prices have really dropped on them too, you can get a 250gb for $90.

Whether or not you choose to buy a new drive before your current dies, backup your files asap.

Ok i've downloaded the utility but it 3-5 tests SMART,ShortDST, Short and long generic
which test i have to run to know the status of the drive

Run them all. The long generic will take a long time. If it fails on any before the long test, then...the drive is on its way out regardless. Saying that, I still have a 250gb Seagate that I've had for about 10 years now!! They don't make them like that anymore!

Ok then ive run all tests
Short dst= passed
I've run long one in dos mode and drive passed that also
SMART passed

Does this means my drive is healthy

and one more thing
I've unplugged my another drive WD 320 Gigs one for running those tests
And after that my SG drive is functioning properly. I know that means WD one is culprit
But if I plug it in my other system which does not have any gpu, it has normal psu Core2 proccy. It functions very well

i.e The problem arises when i run both of them in my pc
What does that mean

I've done that with my boot drive c the drive has 3 vol, 300 gb each the other 2 are as it is and has no error in chkdsk

I found the problem But still confused

I borrowed my friend's psu which is same (zeb-600) for a day and plugged it in

On first boot my both drives works very smooth like never before

Then I also plugged my gpu to see any difference, the boot up was normal but after some time it again starts hanging so I shut it down

I've tried changing the sata power connectors but not succeeded til 2-3 boot

On next boot up the system runs very smooth with both hdds

I can't see any problem from last 4-5 hrs

but i'm still worried about hanging I talked before

Is it my psu which is faulty or its anything else
