My headphone and microphone Jack, on the front, won't work

So I recently got a new PC and have tried everything to try to get the sound to work, I have checked that all the wires from the case (NZXT S340 Elite) are connectec to the motherboard (Asus PRIME X370-PRO)

have you checked again if the postion correct? sometimes flipped plug can make some problem like that, or maybe it could be some problem with the cable or maybe the plug or the metal contact bent

Also check in BIOS Setup whether the HD Audio Controller is Enabled. See manual p. 3-19. It says it should be Enabled by default, but check it anyway. I'm presuming that "all the wires are connected" includes the separate cable to the mobo Front Panel Audio Connector at mobo lower left.
