My hp laptop has a scrambled screen. Every time I turn it on its scrampled. You can't even see 'safe mode' anybody know how to

Can you plug your laptop into a monitor or TV and get a picture to come on correctly then?

I can, I've plugged it into our tv but the picture does not transfer.

If you have the lid open, it will use the laptop screen as the main monitor, you won't see icons or anything on the second monitor unless you move the items over. Does the second screen light up like it's in use? If it does the LCD is bad.

If the monitor does not light up, you can try to trick the laptop into thinking the external screen is the primary one by attaching a keyboard and mouse to it, turning it on then colsing the lid immediatly. It should detect the external display as the main screen.
