My HP laptop will not recognise samsung N8000 tablet as a mass storage device

Hi All,
I accidentally deleted some images and videos from my N8000 I am attempting to recover them by connecting to my HP compac presario c700 laptop on windows 7 via usb... but no matter what I try the HP will not recognise the n8000 as an MSD and allocate it a drive name (Letter) can anybody assist me to accomplish this? please help!

That won't work using a device with an OS installed as a storage device however, if both devices are attached to the same router/modem/network you should be able to enable sharing or Homegroup networking and effectively transfer files between machines.

Otherwise you would need a special USB cable intended for direct transfer of files between machines. Enabling both machines as part of the same Homegroup network or enabling sharing for the folder containing the files and just transferring them over the default network would be the easiest options.

If you install Kies (find it on Samsung website), it will install the drivers for finding it as a device, which will also give you full access to both internal and external storage of the tablet.
