Question My i5 7300u is downclocking itself

Hello! I Have a surface pro

i5 7300u
8gb ram
Integrated Graphics

My cpu downclocks itself below 1ghz when I play games like roblox but when Im not playing any games its at 3.5ghz

Check cpu temp with coretemp when playing a game.

Usually when cpu down clocks is due to thermal throttle, laptop cpu getting too hot.

If it is thermal throttle, it could be a few reasons why.

1. Vents blocked like being on a soft surface like carpet or a blanket.

2. Fans clogged with dust.

3. Other, or laptop cooling not sufficient for current tasks. A cooling pad may help force more air through the bottom.

you can try 'performance mode' within WIndows Power plan, and, always staying plugged in to an AC power adapter if this is a laptop...
