Hi guys,
Recently I started to develop lag when it comes to games. It used to be fine but all of a sudden I started lagging in games like Overwatch. The network card that I have is the TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 N900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter. I swapped it out with my girlfriends network card. She has the same one as me and I still get lag in games. My ISP is Virgin. The picture in the link is the average speed I get.

I am using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

My PC components are:
Intel Core i7 6700k Skylake
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970 Strix Edition
Asus Z170-A (LGA1151) Motherboard
2 x 8gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000mhz Ram
Sandisk SSD 240gb
Western Digital 500gb Hard Drive

Solution
70-120 should not cause lag under normal use. things like 600+, now that is lag.

If you have other systems in your house, you may be able to constantly ping one of your systems to see if it looses connection or drops packets.

ping ip /t would ping forever. when a game lags go check if it has changed. At least this could help rule out wireless.

One thing I could think of would be other users on a multi user network. Windows update can be a bandwidth hog at times.

Another thing is that the internet is made of many other networks and if you happen to hit a traffic jam in any of those networks, you will be effected. This could result in normal speedtest/pingtest results but still having lag in games. These kinds of things tend to get fixed within a few days because those network operators notice something is wrong.

I do not play Overwatch, can you select other servers or is it all matchmaking?

You connection is only as good as the weakest link in the network.

It may also be worth trying wired just in case you are getting more wireless interference these days.

I'm currently the only person in the house. I was getting the same problem when I was back at my parents a few days ago. Now I've moved and i'm getting the same issue so I dont know whether it's something to do with my pc or not.

Overwatch is Matchmaking.

It may well be an issue with one of the networks you pass when playing the game. Do other games have this issue?

Do you and your parents use the same ISP(for what that is worth)?

Does it get the same issue when connecting wired?

Can you try pingtest.net to see if how your ping fairs to various areas. Unfortunately intermittent problems may not always show up this way.

I just tried playing CSGO to test it, still the same problem. My ping goes between 70 - 120.

My parents use the same ISP.

Heres the results from the Pingtest

I haven't tried connecting to wired as I don't have the socket in my room to connect my CAT5 cable.
