My internet starts really fast, but then dramatically slows?

Hi, so I currently have an AT&T as my internet service provider. Normally it's very fast; I've never had any trouble with it until 2 days ago. I've been able to load any web page nearly instantly until suddenly my internet became slow all of a sudden. Instead of loading pages fast like it used to, it now take 30 seconds or more to load one page. I think that's absolutely ridiculous. I haven't downloaded anything lately and haven't tampered with any settings. I've also noticed if I restart my computer my connection is like it once was, but after 5 minutes or so it slows down again. I'm thinking there might be a background process causing this, but I don't want to accidentally end an important service or process. Any help is very much appreciated

start by powering off all the network stuff... Modem, Router, and your PC ... leave them off for a couple of minutes.

Power them back on. Test it. Use the speakeasy.net/speedtest site before and after. Do not do the after test for a couple of minutes with the computer idling (it is actually not idle, it is querying for updates to Windows and AV and such...) Then try the speedtest again

If this does not work, call ATT and complain, there was liely one of their techs in the hood messing with the wires and screwed your DSL

Well that didn't work. My results were nearly the same, before and after. I think I should get set up another connection instead of trying to fix this one.
