My Kenmore dishwasher is making a lot of noise and I haven't used it in awhile. Is Something wrong with it?

Should I turn it off? It's on normal cycle now and now it's quiet like it's working regularly. It's still on normal cycle and on its way to light cycle. It started to make noise again. Our water heater just busted and the new one isn't hooked up yet, but I always thought those coils heated the water. Do I have to wait for the water heater to be installed first? I decided to turn it off.

what's more troubling, LG and Samsung, both relatively newcomers to the dishwasher market, having horrendous reliability issues (per Consumer Reports) and more surprising, even when folks are willing to pay for the parts during warranty svc, it still takes an act of congress to get the needed parts....??? You'd think, being new to the market, they'd want to establish the kind of reputation kitchenaid used to have

And the same issues exist with both LG's and Samsung's washing machines, even the $900-$1100 models
just hope you don't have to replace it - our 14 yr old kitchenaid is on it's last legs, and researching quality on the new models, they're all junk - folks complaining about their DWs failing in 12-36 months. Bosch seems to have the best rep right now but it's not encouraging. Quality reports on some lines seem to get decent reports when you cross the $1100-$1200 price line
