my key doesn't work after I upgrade windows 8 to 8.1 pro

today I tried to upgrade my windows 8 pro to 8.1 pro. the upgrade was completed, but i got a black screen.
it said my key was used on another computer. i do nothing, just upgrade, why this happened?

i called ms, they suggested me to contact the key provider.
so i emailed to REDACTED - SS . and they helped me reactivate.

I would call MS first, and if they can't help, Lenovo.

I tried calling both and I am yet to get it resolved. Thanks for your help.
