if your keyboard use USB, then you have to use ps/2 keyboard to set it to usb in bios.

i had already used both usb and ps2. but they are not working in boot up. so i cant get access into the bios setup. what should i do.

I got this problem when i was using windows 7 ultimate 32 bit OS. in windows 7 sometimes the keyboard didnt work and so i used the onboard keyboard. i tested 3 keyboards. 2 ps2 keyboards. and 1 usb keyboard. I have a another desktop computer and all of them work fine with it. so i am sure there is no problem with keyboards. first i thought this as a virus problem and then i removed windows and set up ubuntu 12.04 and updated it to the latest version. here i should say this. when i was using windows i used the ubuntu bootable cd to test whether is it a windows problem. so in ubuntu keyboard worked fine as usual. there for it wasn't any problem in installing ununtu. but how ever in bios still the porblem remains. i cant access bios setup and after bios ubuntu is asking for a recovery, safemode, normal like list. in it i have to select a option to get into ubuntu desktop. unfortunately i cant do anything because my keyboard doesnt work. how ever if i could enter into my OS then keyboard works fine.
now i am using ubuntu bootable cd. as there is nothing to do in bios to boot the cd it boots fine . after installing ubuntu i worked for about 2 days without any problem. but today when i start the computer there was a massage CMOS settings wrong and reset them. as i cant do any thing i had to restart the computer several times and then there wasn't that problem. as i restart the computer now there is that list in ubuntu and i cant go through that step.

" I think this would be a virus issue which got in windows and now it has attacked bios also. i did a jumper clearing also. changed the bettery(CMOS) too. changed the keyboards also. tried with every usb port also. changed the OS also. What should I do. Do I need any BIOS update.........??????
