well I am still waiting for bulldozer release before i get anything so i will be able to check it all at once to make sure its all good.
over the course of waiting for the cpu my system has changed drastically, to a completely different beast than the one i thought i wanted to begin with, its been a learning process, one which, quite remarkably, i've actually rather enjoyed. the monster i'm going to build pretty much far surpasses anything Alienware or Falcon Northwest has to offer. at about $3700, their premiums costing over twice as much with nowhere near the beast this one will be. heres what it will be at the moment:

Corsair Memory 16gb Dual Channel Kit DDR3 2000MHz
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 580 Infinity Edition Video Card - 1536MB, GDDR5, , Liquid Cooled x2 SLI (big plus; gpus take only 1 pci slot apiece rather than 2 or 3)
Bulldozer (when released)
Corsair Hydro Series H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Samsung 128GB SSD
Corsair Professional Series Gold 1200-Watt 80 Plus Gold
Samsung Desktop Class Spinpoint F3 1 TB SATA 3.0 x4 raid5
Thermaltake Level 10 GT case
SABERTOOTH 990FX AMD AM3+ mobo
LG 12X SATA BLU-RAY BURNER
X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion
Antec Veris Multimedia Station Premier Lcd Display
Acer Widescreen 23.6" 3D LCD Display
nVidia Corp Special Edition 3D Vision Kit Including Free Duke Nukem Game

total cost: $3645... 2nd and 3rd 3d monitors will be added later, but system will be ready for them.

Total AMD/Nvidia (a rare combination!) powerhouse with liquid cooling. will be posting pics and will probably do a youtube video of the building.

This is the total list with the prices:

beauty is in the eye of the beholder, this system will be future proofed for years to come, the only upgrade needed is 2 more monitors (for 3d surround) and windows 8 when released. this is a one time investment i have saved for..not a "waste of money" just simply the best, and you somehow equate the best to a waste...whatever dude...seems theres always 1 hater :heink:

cbrunnem didn't your mother ever tell you if you have nothing nice to say ... leave go to another forum. This is a place for communication , learning and helping people with trouble shooting not a place to grief people.

I think cbrunnem is jelly cuz your setup is probably 5x more epensive lol ;p

What I want to see is some progress pics :D

"waste of money" makes sense if you.. bought junk items lol.

So I think from cbrunnem's logic, that any pc is a waste of money.. So what is he doing on this site? Self made hater paying himself to troll TH in search of pro builds to hate on?

Is it appointment only? I believe I have 2cents I can give him for his time if he comes to my thread and shows some hate :D

its a waste of money because the difference in gaming performance between a 2000-2200 and a 3700 dollar build is minimal and has basically the same components. its not also economical to build a computer to last a long time as in five years to play top notch games at what you did before you will have to fork out the same amount so why not spend less now at say 2 grand and rebuild sooner and have a better computer more often and still spend the same amount of money.

Nice build.

What kind of sound system are you using for this?

Also, I might think about moving the raid 5 to a dedicated Atom based NAS that way you can leave it on and have access locally and remotely (via VPN) 24/7.

you dont need 16 gigs at 2000 mhz that gives you no benefit nor do you need raid5, liquid cooling gives a minimal benefit. dont call me a hater cause i think you are spending to much for not a lot cause i garuentee i make more then you so then has nothing to do with the amount of money being spent as much as how and why you are spending that much for so little.

what you fail to see is the future, may not need 16 gigs now but who knows about tomorrow? and what are we talking anyways..$100 difference for 8 gigs...so what? i'd rather spend the extra and never need than need later and wished i had..please find another post to bother.
and liquid cooling is minimal?...dude..go away...your a moron.
and you garuentee you make more than me? you can't even spell it, and what has that to do with anything other than to just try to hate a little more.

i keep re-reading this, seeing all the mistakes you made in writing common English sentences and there are several. which tells me you probably aren't very educated nor make very much money, unless garbage collection pays extremely well. so you like to pontificate here to make yourself feel like you know something..well you don't, you probably have an off the shelf at wal-mart hp celeron special and added memory and now your a builder..good luck with that.

I don't think he even bothered, he just randomly picked a thread to post his 'answers' on because that is what he does, he randomly selects one person a year to feed them false information in hopes of being correct atleast partially.

Always fails, but he continues to try each year. I wonder who his next nameless victim will be.

buyers beware
i was looking at my previous posts and realized it was you who got me to change to spinpoint hd and ssd..so i have you to thank for partially improving the system. knew i liked you :hello:

I am saying that, in my opinion, you would be better served if the 4x HDD RAID5 was put together in a separate Network Allocated Storage (NAS) computer based on the Atom CPU/Mobo combo such as this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813500036

Build the NAS in a small ITX case, hook it up to your LAN, configure a PPTP VPN server (incredibly simple in Windows 7), and then leave the NAS on 24/7. This will give you the ability to stream content (stored on the NAS) across your LAN to any other computers, HTPCs, media devices you may have and would also allow you access the NAS remotely (ie. from school or work) via VPN.

Hope that clarifies what I was trying to say.
