My laptop can only handle Mbps on the internet. I need to be able to handle 200 mbps.

If you laptop was made in the last 5 years I would expect it to have a gigabit Ethernet port which should easily handle a 200 Mbps connection. If you are not seeing those kinds of speeds I would expect something else is going on.

How about a bit more information:
Laptop model
How you connect to your network (WiFi, Ethernet, etc)
Internet bandwidth (speed)

Are you talking about wi-fi or Ethernet?

Are you talking DOWNLOAD SPEEDS? If so are you being limited by the ISP (Internet Service Provider) bandwidth?

So are you downloading slower than another PC in the house? It's not clear what you are asking.

for a wired connection look for apecs that say gigabit oe 10/100/1000 LAN

for fast WIFI look for specs that mention dual band, IEEE 802.11ac, or something similar

Just FYI, but I have a cheap-ass old wi-fi "N" USB adapter and it maxes out at roughly 2.5MBps but then I got a better router and it can handle 7MBps. That's locally between computers.

My actual ISP max download is about 1.3MBps (11Mbps) so no matter what I can't download from the Internet faster than this.

If your ISP download max is "200Mbps" (25MBps) then it's likely you need both an "AC" router and "AC" wi-fi adapter in the laptop to get maximum performance.

So the MODEM part talks to your ISP but you need the ROUTER WI-FI part to be fast enough, AND the laptop wi-fi part to be fast enough that you don't limit transfer speeds between the router and the laptop.
