My laptop can't connect to internet via ethernet cable

The laptop is a MSI GE60-0nd.
My wifi connection seems to be working fine, except that its capping at a download speed of around 360kb/s even though I've downloaded at 3.5mb/s before this problem occurred.

Other than that, I tried connecting to my router through an Ethernet cable, but nothing happens, I'm still only connected through wifi. It isn't a problem with the cord or router because my brother's dekstop connects with it just fine and I've tried 2 different cords.

I tried to fix it by trying to update the drivers through Device Manager as suggested from another thread but it didn't work. If any other info is needed, please just ask and I'll do my best to supply it.

EDIT: with additional research I found that I have what seems to be a common problem without a common solution
Local area connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration, is what it tells me when I diagnosed my Local Area Connection.

Here is the text from ipconfig through cmd if needed :

the info shows that the wireless network card is still enabled and has an IP assigned.

disable the wireless network card and assign the LAN network card a static IP. the same IP that is currently listed under the wireless network card above.

Also have you tried updating the driver for the network card?

ok, tried that but it didn't work.
and yea, i tried updating the drivers before already.

Actually when I gave it a static IP address, the "Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration" problem was replaced with something like Default Gateway not found
